There have been a variety of modifications in the treatment of childhood orthopaedic problems in recent years.
The diagnosis of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) should be completed with in the first three weeks following birth. After six weeks, the cases are rather
accepted as late. The use
of double diaper is no longer accepted as a treatment method. Pes Equino Varus (PEV) is treated by 95% using Ponseti Casting Method. Pes planus cases, except the rigid ones, are spontaneously corrected in time. Children with spina bifida should be followed up by a multidisciplinary team including a pediatrist. After the birth extremities should be kept in functional position.

First of all the hand-eye coordination of children with serebral palsy should be improved. For lower extremities, if needed, surgery is advised to be performed after six years of age.
